Cancer Support Community offers a wide variety of support services to people with cancer and their loved ones, all completely free of charge and in a home-like setting. Services include support groups, stress management sessions, educational programs, exercise sessions, nutrition workshops and social events. Anyone who walks through the doors of the Cancer Support Community is welcomed and encouraged to participate in any or all that we offer.
Studies have shown that there are three primary “stressors” common to cancer patients and their families that can become real obstacles in their fight for recovery:
- Unwanted aloneness/isolation
- Loss of control
- Feelings of hopelessness
Programs at Cancer Support Community are specifically designed to address these areas of stress for anyone dealing with cancer. ‘Community’ is perhaps the most important aspect of Cancer Support Community model of care that differentiates the program from any other. Today, hundreds of people with cancer and their loved ones unite together through our programs. People can come at the point of diagnosis, during or at the end of treatment, at recurrence, or several years out of treatment. They all come to learn they are not alone in their fight for recovery, they regain a sense of control over their lives, and ultimately discover that hope is a valuable tool on the road to wellness.
Whatever your needs are during your cancer experience, Cancer Support Community is here to help you in your fight for recovery. Along with participating in our various programs, feel free to drop in anytime during our normal business hours, browse our resource library, surf the internet for cancer resources and check out The Virtual Cancer Support Community and Group Loop websites, or just to stop in and have a snack and chat with friends. Cancer Support Community is an oasis for you on your road to recovery.
