Support Groups

Fighting Cancer Together:

Weekly Support Groups

  • People Living with Cancer Support Groups
    Every Monday & Tuesday, 6:30 - 8:30 pm and every Monday, 1:00 - 2:30 pm
    Adult group members with different types of cancer come together each week to get support and learn from each other. People in active treatment, who have recently completed treatment or are having treatment-related side effects up to two years after
    treatment ends are welcome.  A pre-group meeting with one of our clinical staff members is required prior to joining the weekly support groups. Schedule with Jen Sinclair, Program Director, at 610.861.7555.
  • Family/Caregiver Support Groups
  • Every Monday, 6:30 - 8:00 pm
    Care partners find new ways to address stress while supporting a loved one living with cancer. This group meets weekly and requires a pre-group meeting with one of our clinical staff members is required prior to joining. Schedule with Jen Sinclair, Program Director, at 610.861.7555.

Monthly Support Groups

In a safe space, connect with others with the same kind of cancer or similar concerns. Discuss treatments, treatment responses, stress management, problem solving, and communicating with family and healthcare teams.
  • Breast Cancer Networking Group
    1st Monday of month, 11:00 - 12:30 pm (Funded by the Women’s 5K Classic)
    Facilitator: Ulla Martz, LCSW
    This group will help breast cancer survivors understand emotional reactions common to their diagnosis. We will talk about different tools to use for managing stress and emotional reactions, problem solving, improving communication with family and the health care team, improving self-esteem and creating balance in life.
  • Long-term Survivor Group
    1st Thursday of month, 6:30 - 8:00 pm
    Facilitator: Mary Timko, LSW
    Survivors moving beyond active treatment are welcome to discuss long-term survivorship concerns. Are you a cancer survivor ready to transition from active treatment into longer-term survivorship? Do you still seek the support from others who are exploring this ‘new normal?’ Join us for a social group that will help you ease challenges of long-term side effects, prepare you for a better quality of life, and build your confidence in this new phase of your life.

  • GYN Cancers
    1st Wednesday of month, 6:30 - 8:00 pm
    Facilitator: Ulla Martz, LCSW, OSW-C
  • Women with ovarian, cervical, endometrial, and uterine cancer welcome.
  • Bereavement Group
    quarterly; check program calendar for dates
    For those who have lost a loved one to cancer.
  • Family Connection

    The Whole Family, the Whole Time
    Families address a family member's cancer diagnosis (child or adult).

  • Thyroid Cancer
    2nd Wednesday of month, 6:30 - 8:00 pm

  • Young Adult Cancer Group

  • Circulo de Apoyo
    3rd Friday of month, 11:30 - 1:00 pm
    Facilitator: Esther Vittini, PhD
    Spanish speaking group. Friends and family are also welcome. Location: Lehigh Valley Hospital17th and Chew St., Allentown. In collaboration with LLS.
  • Lymphedema
    2nd Wednesday of month, 11:00 - 12:00 pm
    Facilitator: Susan Toohey, LPC
    Diagnosed with lymphedema? Join us to discuss the emotional aspects of this side effect that can impact both men's and women's body images and sense of
    intimacy, cause intermittent discomfort and changes to daily activities at home or work. We'll cover preventive care, maintenance, ways to avoid potential problems,
    and coping techniques to help you live with this side effect on a daily basis.

  • Pancreatic Cancer Support Group
    4th Tuesday of month, 10:00 - 11:30 am
    This group addresses the unique needs and concerns of people affected by pancreatic cancer. Find support and information by meeting others who share your experiences. Family and friends are welcome to attend. Sponsored by J's Run organization.
