Our mission is to ensure that all people impacted by cancer are empowered by knowledge, strengthened by action and sustained by community. The Cancer Support Community offers free emotional support, educational programs and wellness classes to people affected by cancer, their family members and caregivers.
So that no one faces cancer alone.
“Where can I get a wig?” – this is a question that callers ask us often. After directing them to our friends at American Cancer Society for years, we can now respond to them conveniently by saying, “RIGHT HERE!” We are proud to announce that CSC-GLV will be a new local site to host an American Cancer Society Wig Salon. Interested women who meet the criteria can be scheduled for individual fittings on Tuesdays and Wednesdays between 1-5pm by appointment only. We are excited to have this opportunity to play a part in building cancer survivor’s self-esteem about their appearance and comfort.
Join us on Thursday, October 27th, 6:30 - 8:00 pm for Body Image and Cancer. Developing a positive body image during and after cancer treatment is important in survivorship. Yet it's a topic that is sometimes avoided due to embarrassment, fear of rejection, or frustration. This workshop will help start the conversation with loved ones and healthcare providers in a sensitive and delicate way. All survivors and care partners are invited to attend. There will be a special highlight for breast cancer survivors featuring one of Hartzell's Pharmacy's certified mastectomy fitters, Teena Bloss.

Our resource library has a wide selection of books for children, tweens & teens, parents, and professionals on dealing with cancer in the family and the loss of a loved one. This month we look at books dealing with breast cancer.
The New Generation Breast Cancer Book: How to Navigate Your Diagnosis and Treatment Options-and Remain Optimistic-in an Age of Information Overload by Dr. Elisa Port - From an expert in the field comes the definitive guide to managing breast cancer in the information age. Elisa Port, MD, FACS, chief of breast surgery at The Mount Sinai Hospital and co-director of the Dubin Breast Center in Manhattan, offers an optimistic antidote to the ocean of web data on screening, diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment.
Breast Cancer Clear & Simple, Second edition: All Your Questions Answered (Clear & Simple: All Your Questions Answered series) by the American Cancer Society - With an easy-to-understand, question-and-answer format, this book guides patients through the important decisions they’ll need to make, from diagnosis through treatment. It helps women with breast cancer and their caregivers know what to expect, what to do, and how to get through what can be an overwhelming, life-changing experience. This new edition includes tips for choosing the right doctor, understanding treatment choices, dealing with the effects of treatment, seeking support groups, and much more. A list of specific resources for patients, as well as a glossary of terms related to breast cancer, is also included.
